Mounted patrol officers feeling the love
These officers are part of Baytown Police Department’s Mounted Patrol.
“One of the things that came up in the city survey was that people weren’t seeing enough officers in the retail areas. There are plenty of officers out here. But unless we come in direct contact with somebody in a patrol car, they don’t see us. On horseback, people notice us.
“We get lots of positive feedback. We’ve been really impressed with the number of people who stop just to thank us for being out. With all the negative things out there these days, we do have a lot of people who support us. Sometimes we forget that.”
