Drusilla enjoys having a ‘pretty cool’ name
Drusilla Jennings likes to swing during a break from running at the park.
“My name is Drusilla. I love it. Most of the people who are close to me call me Dru.”
How did your parents come up with the name?
“My mom grew up in Louisiana. When she and my father first lived together, it was around the Baton Rouge area. You see that name a lot there. There’s a Drusilla Lane, Drusilla Cleaners, Drusilla Seafood Restaurant, just all kinds of things.”
What was it like growing up with that name?
“I got kidded about it in middle school. I remember being called Druzilla, and I didn’t like that. It’s funny because it came up again recently when someone was doing word play with my name and they said Druzilla, which brought me back.
“Any time I mention my name now, though, everyone’s pretty cool with it. Not that many people have heard of it.”
