Katrina evacuees doing much better these days

“I’m just trying to maintain a stable life for my kids. So far, so good.”
“I’m originally from New Orleans, but came to Baytown in 2005 because of Hurricane Katrina. I ended up losing my house there, but this whole experience has been a blessing for me.
“We’ve been doing very well since we’ve been here. I have a master’s degree and a good job. And I’m a first-time home buyer as a single parent raising four kids. It can be challenging. I have my days. But I keep praying and I just keep going. I don’t give up.”
