Custodian encourages students to stay in school
She was born in Mexico and came to the United States when she was 14.
“I’ve worked as a custodian at Robert E. Lee High School for 19 years. Some people may think we don’t do much besides cleaning, but a lot of us take time to offer advice and encourage the kids. We tell them how important it is to stay in school and to graduate.
“I only made it through the fourth grade. I want to see them continue their education so they can better themselves.”
