Groundhog Day marriage still going strong
“We’ve been married 60 years. This is my first bride.”
“And last.”
“I was 21 and she was 15. I believe in robbing the cradle.
“On my 21st birthday, I got a summons to come to the Army. I was going with her at the time and realized if I didn’t get her while I had her, I probably wouldn’t get her. So we got married on Feb. 2, Groundhog Day, in 1954.
“Eight days later, I went into the Army. Then three months later, after five weeks of basic training, my knee fell out from under me. They gave me a medical discharge. I got to go home, and we started our life together.”
