Son always tries to ‘take care of what’s broken’
“I became a Christian at 18 because of my grandmother, and I taught my seven kids about Christ while they were growing up. After one of my sons went to college he tried insurance, went into the Army and then was involved in different business ventures. Finally he said, ‘Mom, God is just calling me to the ministry,’ and now he has own nondenominational church in Baytown.
“He started out as a singer in church. My mother used to say, ‘I think he’s going to be a preacher.’ He’s very kindhearted. As a matter of fact, he’s probably too kind because people take advantage of him sometimes. He’s very genuine, as far as loving people. He’s always trying to take care of what’s broken.”
