College student hopes to make his parents proud

He’s a sophomore at Lee College, while she’s a third-grader at Victoria Walker Elementary.

“We’re cousins. We don’t really get to hang out much because I’m going to college and I work a lot as an assistant general manager of a restaurant.

“Trying to balance school and work is a little difficult, but I guess that’s just the price you have to pay to achieve your goals.

“I’d like to become a doctor. Growing up, my parents would always say that I should want to do something great. They didn’t go as far with their education, so I guess they were always hoping that their oldest son would become some major person.

“I find the medical field fascinating, particularly the cardiovascular system and the heart. It’s what keeps us alive, keeps us ticking. I’d like to focus on that.”
