After losing it all, she would like to give back
“No matter who we are, the rug can get pulled out from under us at any time.
“I was a substitute teacher, but during the break between semesters I couldn’t find work and ended up losing everything. The homeless shelter took me in and I eventually moved into their transitional program.
“Two years ago, I became the first transitional member to join the shelter’s committee. Now I’m on my own and I’m a part-time tutor at Lee College.
“Someday, I’d like to go back home to Natchitoches, Louisiana, to take care of my parents and establish a business, probably caring for people since God has taken care of me. That will be my way of giving back to the community.”
