‘I wanted to be a Beatle … a rock and roll star’

Chris Cloud has been creating his own music for years in his home studio.

“When I was a kid, Dad and Mom took me to see James Bond movies at the drive-in theater. I wanted to be just like him. He had chicks. He had gadgets. He was so cool.

“Then I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and everything changed. Nobody was shooting at them, and girls were screaming and pulling their hair out. I wanted to be a Beatle, man. I wanted to be a rock and roll star.

“Through the years, I’ve been in several bands and written thousands of songs. In the ‘80s our group, called New Scale, played all over Austin. In 1981, we played with Iron Butterfly. We also played next to people like Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Go-Go’s.

“I was always recording everything, and I’ve still got all those tapes. I think they need to be heard again. I just need someone to help me get them out there.”
