Kite builder shares the art with his family

Flying in the sky above them is a 4-foot kite crafted from a plastic tablecloth.

“It’s a great day for flying kites. I’m here with my father-in-law watching the kite I built out of bamboo and a plastic tablecloth. It’s about 4 feet tall.

“I’m originally from Jamaica, where it’s a tradition to fly kites. I’ve enjoyed building them since I was a kid. There’s a real art to it, and it’s fun to see your finished product. It’s something that I want to share with my family.

“In my lifetime I’d say that I’ve built about 200 kites, and they all flew. Some people make them and they don’t go anywhere. I’ve never had one fail.”
