‘Sometimes, I wish God would call me’

Fernando says, “When I learned I had bone cancer, they gave me eight months. And here I am still alive.”
“I have bone cancer, osteoporosis and hepatitis C. I recently had surgery for the cancer so when I’m in pain, I take my pills.
“All day, all night, life is hard for me, amigo. I’m trying, but I live by myself. I don’t have anybody else.
“I’m 65. Sometimes, I wish God would call me. But he doesn’t want to yet. I’m waiting for him to say yes. I don’t want to go down there. I want to go up there.”
