‘I finally decided I needed to take some time to live’
A trip to Corpus Christi with her daughter opened Audria Courtney’s eyes.
“My biggest challenge as a teacher and single parent is just trying to balance everything in life. My career is pretty demanding, what with the amount of time needed to do the job. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned how to live life a little bit more.
“For so long I’ve had spring break off, I’ve had summer off, but I never took a vacation up until about three years ago. When I took my daughter to Corpus Christi, it was the first trip we had taken together. She was so amazed and so fascinated by everything that I was like, wow, I should have been doing this much earlier. I had been depriving her of seeing the world all these years.
“It was all because I had found myself feeling really frazzled and overwhelmed. I finally decided that I needed to take some time to live, you know, before it’s too late.”
