Young writer enjoys creating her own worlds

Kaylee Mahar, 13, dreams of becoming an author.

“I love writing. I’ve been writing stories since I was real young. I have these journals filled with stories. Right now I’m reworking the Harry Potter books and putting my own characters in it. One has my name, but it’s not really me. It’s like a weird timeline thing I made up where she’s part of Lord Voldemort’s bloodline.”

What do you like most about writing?
“I can create my own worlds where I can escape from all my siblings (four brothers) and all my troubles. It’s pretty cool.

“Whenever I have free time, I’m usually writing or reading. If I’m doing either one of those, I’m having a good time.”
