Vietnam veterans help their ‘brothers and sisters’
“We’re just veterans helping veterans. Through the years, we’ve seen what many of them are going through. We feel like we have to help our brothers and sisters because they get very little assistance from our government and very little help from the VA. So we raise funds for things like wheelchairs and hospital beds, and some of us donate our time to take them to doctor’s appointments.
“It puts a lump in your throat knowing that they did their time in Vietnam, yet many veterans are struggling to make it. We just heard the other day that there are 1.6 million veterans in hospice care. It’s hard to believe, and it brings tears to your eyes.”
