“A few years back, a friend and I talked about giving blankets to the homeless in the downtown area. Every year since then, we contact each other because we have a passion for these sorts of things.

“This year when she called, she asked if I knew of a family or someone who needed help. I heard about BCFS, this home for children ages 5 to 17 who are in this country alone. So this year, I said this is what I want to do. I want to help these children. I want them to know that people care about them.

“They could really use socks, underwear, games, sports equipment, that sort of thing. We’re trying to get as many donations as we can and present it to them for the holidays.

“When I stopped to think about it, I couldn’t imagine my 5-year-old being away from me in some place like that in another country. I felt like I had to do something to help them.”
