“I’m a single dad. Their mom is in South America. So I’m raising him and his sister by myself.”

How did that transpire?
“I was working overseas in Africa for Transocean, one of the largest offshore drilling companies in the world, when she abducted them from here. It took me six months, but with the help of the state department and the Peruvian government, I was finally able to get them back. It was a nightmare.

“I had met their mom on the Amazon River. We were married for 12 years. The divorce was finalized last May. It took 18 months and my entire life savings.”

How is everyone holding up?
“The kids are doing fine. When I got custody of them, I was lucky enough to get a job in our corporate office in Houston so I could be home with them. I worked there for a year, but I got laid off on Nov. 9. So now I’m looking for a job.”
