Liam McRee, 2, is among the children who benefit from Early Childhood Intervention services provided by Bay Area Rehabilitation Center.

The Baytown Project recently visited staff and clients of Bay Area Rehabilitation Center, a non-profit organization that has served the local and area communities since 1948. The center’s mission is to provide outpatient therapeutic, vocational, social skill training and recreational services for people with disabilities or injuries, and support services for their families.

As one of the few private non-profit rehabilitative and vocational therapy organizations in Southeast Texas, the center strives to provide services to all clients in need regardless of their insurance coverage or ability to pay.

In a week-long series, we will highlight the center’s important role through the voices of those who work there and those who receive help in turning disabilities into possibilities.
