Artist continues work, even while homeless

Some of this artist’s design work is featured in a clothing line.

“Last month I was homeless. Just a rock and a hard spot, man. I was in a homeless shelter with all my equipment and stuff. It was horrible, and I’m blessed to not be there. I’m staying at my parents’ house now.

“Actually, I’ve been homeless several times. I stayed at Star of Hope in Houston for about a year. It was brutal. That was probably my lowest point.

“But I’m an artist to a fault. Even when I didn’t have a place to say, I would go paint with homeless people on the streets.

“I stuck it out and ended up working at a Subway, where I became a manager after a month. I always seem to do really well in crappy situations. But it would be nice not to have to be in that crappy situation in the first place.

“I know success is right around the corner. I think everything happens for a reason. Ultimately, I think that everything I’ve gone through has made me wiser, stronger and a better artist. It’s all given me more substance as far as my art goes. I don’t regret anything.”
