Future teacher trying to break out of her shell
“I was my high school’s mascot all four years. We were the Panthers. Besides it being really hot wearing the suit, it was awesome. People knew my name but they didn’t know my face. When I had the suit on, no one knew who I was so I could be crazy.
“It worked out well because I’m not really a people person. It’s just how I grew up. I didn’t have many friends. I still don’t have many friends. I don’t talk to people that much. Just a fear, I guess.
“My favorite memory of being the mascot was this parade where I got to see all the children and their smiles. That’s what made me really enjoy it, all those smiles.
“Then in my senior year, I worked at the elementary school library where I got sort of used to the children and their parents. I’m OK with that. But other situations, not so much. I’m still working on getting out of my shell.”
