Construction worker seeks ‘peaceful, humble life’

Senior leans against library building

Senior, who recently turned 34, is engaged to be married.

“My biggest challenge? That’s kind of a difficult question, man. Right now, I guess it would be keeping my place to stay.”

What obstacles do you face?
“My background. My decision making as a young kid until the man I am today. Gang-banging, felonies, stuff like that. It kind of holds me back. It’s really stopped me from getting a lot of opportunities in my life for where I could be a better man. But I’m trying.

“I’ve been doing a lot of construction work. Now I’m in the process of looking for another job. I just got OSHA certified. I’ll do pretty much whatever I can. I’m just trying to keep my head above water.

“My hope is to just live a peaceful, humble life. Just to be able to watch my family grow. I’m engaged. We’ll be married, hopefully, in November if I can get everything together.”
