New Jersey family getting used to friendly Texans
The happy-go-lucky life of a child was apparent when I approached this young mom and her three children on the first real sunny day following a week of rain.
One of the girls kept singing, “You are my best friend,” while running from one piece of playground equipment to the other. And they all enjoyed saying, “Hi,” over and over again.
“They’re pretty outgoing. They get that from my husband. He talks to everyone, so they take after him. I’m more the shy type. I take after my mom.
“We just moved here from New Jersey last June. I do miss my family and friends back home, but everyone’s more friendly here overall. In Jersey, people aren’t that friendly.”
