Music can touch people when preaching can’t

Known to friends as “Dandy Don,” Don Cunningham has recorded five Christian music albums.
“I’m a licensed and ordained minister in music. I’ve been doing that for probably 20 years. I don’t really know how to read music, but I can kind of sight read.
“A fellow I went to church with went into evangelism. He would hold these revivals at different churches, and I would go with him to lead the music. By doing more and more of it, you pick up things along the way. Through that I got to know a lot of pastors. When a minister of music would move on, they would need someone to fill in as interim.
“At the church I go to now, I sing in the choir and do special music, solos, every once in a while. I also sing at weddings and funerals. I love singing. It’s a way to communicate the gospel to people, to uplift and encourage them. Sometimes, music touches people when preaching won’t.”
