Helping elderly people inspires this nurse

Beverly Speights is a licensed vocational nurse who has plans to become a registered nurse.

“I had an aunt who was sick and required medical attention. She had a trach tube, so I went ahead and took the class. I didn’t really have a choice because we didn’t want to put her in a nursing home. I took care of her. She’s been gone a couple years now, but that experience is what started me on my path to becoming a nurse.

“My inspiration is being able to assist elderly people. If I can help by any means necessary, that’s what I want to do. It’s my passion. You have to have a heart to do this kind of work. I love it.”
