His creed: ‘I dont deal. I don’t steal. I don’t squeal.’

“I don’t deal. I don’t steal. I don’t squeal. That’s a little creed I try to live by. You’ve got to believe in something.

“I know a lot of people who boost from stores, and I used to do that myself. I guess I learned it from my dad. He did it real well. He was a carnival man, and we moved around a lot. So I was raised in that carnival lifestyle. You know, gypsies, tramps and thieves, and all that.

“Over time I changed my outlook. It’s been a slow, long process. And I really try not to judge someone like a mama if she has mouths to feed. She’s got to do what she’s got to do.

“Don’t get me wrong. I still have my own issues. But I try to stay true to that code. It’s something simple. But if you can live by it, you’re better off.”
