He chooses good over evil, preaches ‘don’t give up’

Tony Brooks holds up a tree branch

After walking down a lot of dark roads, things are looking up for Tony Brooks.

“When I was growing up, I didn’t know God. But I didn’t realize I was living for the devil, either.

“I’ve been through a lot of things in my life. I’ve walked down a lot of dark roads. I was strung out on alcohol and cocaine, and I became homeless. But I kept returning to the same places where I used to believe I was somebody really big.

“After finding God I was like, ‘Dude, you weren’t big at all.’ I realized how that had to occur in order for me to finally become who I am now. It woke up the spirit in me. Then I started all over, and it’s been a journey.

“What I want to tell people is that no matter where you come from, or how many hard things you’ve had to deal with in your life, don’t give up. But you’ve got to make a choice. You can choose good or evil. And it took me a long time, but I finally chose good.

“Once you make that choice, it will wake you up and make you figure out who you really are as an individual. We all have greatness inside of us. We just have to begin that journey to be able to pull it from the inside out.”
