The Pickup Line Song: Help for the awkward

“The church I was at was doing this open mic night, and the theme was awkward. I was super awkward in junior high and high school, and I’m still kind of awkward now. So I thought, if I could say something to my awkward self, how could I help him out?

“I decided to write a whole bunch of cheesy pickup lines and put them in “The Pickup Line Song.” When I played it at the show, everybody loved it. I kept playing it more and more, and people continued liking it.

“After that, I thought we should make a video and try to get on ‘The Ellen Show’ with it because that’s something she might like. We got a bunch of people together, went to a park in Galveston and did the whole video in one take. There are so many pickup lines in the song and almost every line had a different act going with it, so it was kind of crazy. People were changing costumes on the sides and running through. It was a lot of fun.

“In the end, it didn’t get on ‘Ellen.’ But it did get almost 70,000 views.”
