She enjoys seeing her art make other people happy
“I believe my love of art came from my parents. They really encouraged me to think abstractly.
“Having ADD (attention deficit disorder), I was always talking nonstop and coming up with these random stories. But they didn’t look at me and say, ‘Slow down, Liz’ or ‘Don’t think about that stuff. That’s not possible. Be more practical.’ They kind of let me figure things out for myself and really just be into what I was into. I think that approach helped me evolve into the person that I am today.
“As much as I am interested in math and science, I have always been passionate about art. I would probably go into that as a career if I felt like it would be easier to secure a paycheck. I feel bad for not pursuing it because of the money. But on my own, I still constantly draw and come up with interesting stuff.
“Art has always been just for me, to see what I could make. But I do enjoy when it makes other people happy. To see their faces light up at something I made, that’s a pretty amazing feeling.”
