She’s enjoying college experience, away from home

“I just finished my first semester at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. I’m there on a soccer scholarship. I had a few other offers, but I didn’t want to go too far away from home. It’s just a four-hour drive to Natchitoches.

“At the same time, I didn’t really want to stay in Texas. I was ready to see what it was like somewhere else. It’s kind of nice to be off on my own, away from home, and looking after myself. My parents aren’t there telling me to do things or making sure I’m home by curfew, which is nice.

“It hasn’t been that big of an adjustment, really. I’ve always been the type of person who’s responsible for keeping up with school work, soccer and everything else.

“So far I’m really enjoying college, especially hanging out with my friends.”
