Abandoned Speedy steals her heart
Meet Speedy (left) and Cocoa, mother and son.
“A year and a half ago, somebody dropped her off out in the country. A neighbor across the road started feeding her, and she would come over every night to our house and sleep on our steps. After about a month of that, I figured I’d let her on our porch, where we have a day bed. She ran and jumped on the day bed, and that’s been her little spot ever since.
“Come to find out she was pregnant. That’s probably why someone dropped her off, because they didn’t want to deal with her pregnancy. She had four puppies, and we kept one.
“We had no intentions of having any animals because we’re both retired and we wanted to be free to do whatever. But Speedy just stole my heart. She just loves me to death. We’ve never had dogs in the house. Of course, they’ve got the run of the house now.”
