Dealing with dog’s decline not easy

Meet Ginger, who was adopted from a shelter.

Can I take a photo of your dog?
“Yeah, but it probably will be the last time. She’s not going to make it.

“They don’t know what’s wrong with her. She won’t eat, and she’s been losing weight. She’s lost about 5 pounds in two weeks. She’s been at the vet all this week. They’ve been feeding her with a syringe.

“The vet said they’d like to keep her a few more days to run some more tests. I went by and got her today so I could spend a little time with her while I can.

“She’s just like one of the kids, like everybody’s dog is. When you spend 11 years with someone, day in and day out, you get real attached.

“It’s tough, but it’s part of life. When you have pets, you’re going to have to deal with this at some point. But that doesn’t make it any easier.”
