“A friend gave her to me as a Christmas present when she was a puppy. It was a surprise. I had never had a dog in my life. I thought, what am I going to do with her? But let me tell you, now you couldn’t give me $1 million for her.

“When she was young, she ate all sorts of stuff. Our vet had to remove a nickel from her stomach. Eight months later she swallowed two acorns with caps on them and had to have those removed. She was into everything until she was about 3.”
