From the cups to the talk, she’s hooked on tea
“When I worked with the Army Corps of Engineers overseas, we had these security guards that were British. They were all former Her Majesty’s Service. We affectionately referred to them as thugs because they were just massive. But as huge and as macho as these guys were, every day they stopped to have tea. Ever since then, I’ve been a big tea person. I have a tea set from every country I’ve ever been in.”
Why the obsession with tea?
“Number one, the tea sets, the tea cups, are absolutely beautiful little works of art. Number two, the act of sitting down and having tea, whether it’s by yourself or with other people, it slows you down and causes you to reflect on the day. It’s a very calming thing.
“I’ve said to my coworkers many times that when somebody invites you to come have tea, it’s not about the tea. They need to talk. Don’t ever say no to tea. Same with coffee.”
