“We met through a dating service. I moved here from Houston to be with her. When our lease was up, we tried asking our landlord to give us another week or two to move all our stuff into storage. But when I stopped by our place there was a cleaning crew, and all my expensive things were gone. I lost about $500 cash, 10 Polos, three Versace silk shirts, three pair of Gucci shorts, alligator shoes, a Rolex watch and a big-screen TV. Our king-size mattress and one piece of our leather sofa were sitting outside getting damaged by the rain.
“When I was in Houston I worked at the Budweiser warehouse and Kim Son restaurant, so I could afford nice things. I didn’t bring all my stuff over here to lose it like that. The landlord said he didn’t know what happened to it all. I went to every pawn shop to see if some of my things were there. To take a big loss like that, it’s eating me alive.
“I don’t have any family or friends here, and I’m wondering who’s going to help me. I speak to my family but they say, ‘You know what? You chose to move. You knew you didn’t know anybody out there. You put yourself in that situation.’
“Now I’m here in the park sleeping under this gazebo, with hardly anything other than my Bible. When I talked to my mom and dad I said, ‘Maybe you need to call Unsolved Mysteries or something, and tell them you have a son who’s lost in Texas.’”
