“Paul Revere was my uncle. He was my dad’s little brother. He was named after an uncle, Revere, and another uncle, Paul. When Paul Revere and the Raiders were really hot, I loved it. I was raised on rock and roll.

Paul Revere loved to entertain people, according to his nephew, Keith Dick.

“When I was a senior in high school in 1968, I was in a band called Seymore Love. Paul Revere loaned us a big Vox amplifier and an organ. That was pretty cool because they had used them on some of their TV performances. But I remember him telling me, ‘Keith, I have one wish for you. I hope your band never makes it big because this is a horrible lifestyle.’ He had lost two wives because he was always on the road. They were at the top of their game professionally. But personally, it wasn’t so good for him.

“He had a really big personality. When he came into a room, instantly he was doing the talking and everybody else was listening. He was very funny and a wonderful storyteller; just an all-around entertainer. That’s what I remember most about him.

“In 2013, they found out he had a brain tumor, and he ended up having surgery. Afterwards, his left hand was paralyzed but he continued performing. I had the best time watching him and his band on a cruise ship out of Houston. Until the end, he was making people laugh and making sure everyone had a good time.

“I attended his funeral in 2014. There were quite a few famous people there. Everybody loved Paul Revere.”
