Communication and trust keep her marriage strong

Marcie Pratt Hill and her husband moved to Baytown from New Mexico more than 30 years ago.

“My keys for a long and successful marriage are communication and trust. You have to conversate with each other. You can’t just assume things are going to happen. You need to talk one-on-one with him. If something is bothering you then you say, ‘Babe, I’ve got a problem.’ Get the hair out of the shower or whatever it is.

“Trust is big, too. If you don’t trust him, then you don’t need to be with him.

“Another thing is date night. We go out to eat and to the movies once a week. They know us well.

“All this together has totally worked for us. We’ve yet to have that big conversation. You know, the one where it’s so bad that you feel like you need to leave.”
