Client takes job interview into his own hands

Bay Area Rehabilitation Center trash crew at Town Square

Kim Frederick-Brown, director, Opportunity Center, Bay Area Rehabilitation Center, with a team of clients after tidying up Baytown’s Town Square.

“One of my client’s goals was to work at Golden Corral. So I arranged an interview with the manager, and the two of us went over there.

“He was so nervous, I think he drank like 14 Dr Peppers waiting on the manager because it was pretty busy at the time. So finally he gets up and says, ‘Miss Kim, I’m going to the restroom.’ Then he’s gone for a long time and I’m wondering, where did he go? I thought to myself, I hope he hasn’t run out of the place.

“So I called back to my coordinator and said, ‘I think he left. I don’t know where he is.’ And where is he? Well, he’s back there doing his own interview with the manager.

“He comes running out all excited and says, ‘Miss Kim, I got the job. He says he’ll call me in a week or so.’ He was so excited, and I was excited for him.

“I really like to see people achieve whatever goal they’re trying to reach.”
