Her philosophy on life was to always help others

Marjorie Yeager, 97, is a resident of St. James House in Baytown. She was a nurse for more than 40 years.

“The first day I was in nursing school the teacher asked each of us, ‘What is your philosophy on life?’ I said, ‘I shall pass through this world but once. Any little thing that I can do for any human or dumb animal, let me do it now for I shall not come this way again.’

“That was my philosophy. I had read it somewhere and I liked it. And, you know, that’s the way I feel. That’s the way I’ve always lived my life.”
