“I’ve always been afraid of moving forward and seeing where life is going to lead me. When I graduated high school, everybody was trying to go to a big university but I was too afraid to leave. So I went to college back home for a few years before finally deciding I need to make a change.
“I got in my car and drove up here from McAllen. But even while I was on the road I was thinking, should I just turn around and drive back? I was still dealing with that fear. I finally told myself that since I’m already halfway there, I had to go for it.
“I’m not really sure why I’ve always been so scared of change. I think about it a lot. Part of my reason for coming up here for school was so that I could explore myself more. Maybe that will help me figure out why I’m the way I am.”
