‘I 100% believe these vaccinations help’

(Part 3 of 3) “Before Justin got COVID, neither of us got the vaccine. But after I saw how it affected him, and I saw how ill he was, I got vaccinated on May 10.

“After what he’s gone through, I 100% believe these vaccinations help. What if he had gotten vaccinated before all this? Would he have been that sick? Would it have gotten that bad?

“I don’t believe in mandating the vaccine, just because it’s breaking away your freedom of choice. But I do think people need to seriously consider getting it. Because if you went through what we went through, you’d be terrified.

“We’ve spoken to his pulmonary doctor about it. In three months, he should be able to get the vaccine. I know he wants to get vaccinated. I would just rather that his body and his lungs be a little bit stronger and heal before we do that.

“After seeing someone you love almost die from COVID, you have a whole different perspective on life and the situation. This has been a very long journey, and it’s not over yet. It’s like every little thing still makes me nervous with him.

“I do think that I suffer from a little bit of PTSD and anxiety from it all. I know he does, too. He’s been a little more emotional because, I mean, he almost lost his life. He says that it will always stick with him that he missed four months of his life, from his kids and from me. He missed things like getting to see our youngest take his first steps.

“Having to watch him go through it all, that’s the worst feeling you could ever imagine. It’s crazy how one virus can do so much damage to someone’s body. But he is a survivor of COVID. He is a success story. I’m so grateful for that. But this is definitely not a road I would ever want to take again.”
